Infants younger than 1 year old who are fed whole cow`s milk don`t get enough iron, linoleic acid and vitamin E, and get too much sodium, potassium and protein, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. The
organization, based in Elk Grove Village, says in the May edition of its medical journal that the only acceptable alternative to breast milk is infant formula but only when fortified with iron.
