India is experimenting with the ”Ladies Special,” a women-only commuter train carrying travelers on the 21-mile route between Bombay and the western suburb of Borivli. During its inaugural run, policewomen stood guard at each of the nine cars to keep men away. Normally, two and a half coaches in commuter trains are reserved for women.
