I haven`t seen any of the other ”Lethal Weapons” (by choice) so I was a little apprehensive about seeing ”Lethal Weapon 3.” It was very lethal. So lethal that it almost put me to sleep.
I have heard that many of the jokes were regurgitated from the other
”Lethal Weapons.” They weren`t that funny to me, and I have only heard them once.
The characters consist of Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover), who is supposed to be retiring in eight days; Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson), who is one of the biggest mooches in history; and Leo Getz (Joe Pesci), whose platinum-blond hair definitely fits his character. (My apologies to any of my blond fans.)
These dudes with the addition of Lorna Cole (Rene Russo), a detective from internal affairs, are out to bust the bad guys who are selling illegal weapons. No surprises there.
The movie is really long. By the end you`re so tired of all the chase scenes, the fire scenes, the gun scenes, the fighting scenes, the love scenes, (OK, so maybe not the love scenes) that you`ve seen it all and just want to go home.
I think the producers should just give it up and let ”Lethal Weapon”
die in peace. Sequels hardly ever turn out, and sequels of sequels are even worse.
This lethal weapon miscalculates, misfires and is a mistake. My advice?
Stay home and write an original script. Looks like the movie business is in dire need of one. (STAR)
