The Tribune of May 12 reports on a radio ad paid and authorized by Carol Moseley Braun`s opponent in the November race for the U.S. Senate. According to the Tribune, the ad calls Braun Harold Washington`s ”voice” (translate
”mouthpiece”?) and Jesse Jackson`s ”delegate” (translate ”factotum”
?). Less obvious than the racial slant of this gentleman`s statement is his anti-woman bias.
The not-too-subtle message here is that Braun`s voice and vision are not her own (after all, she`s just a woman) but those of two men. Reflective men and women will have little difficulty knowing what to do with this time-honored nonsense.
