On May 10, I read the article ”New hope in cutting homicides” by Sharman Stein in the Chicagoland section. I found the article interesting and informative.
The next afternoon two men robbed me at gunpoint in front of my apartment as I came home from work. As I stood there with a revolver pointed to my head, the actual words of Stein`s article went through my mind: ”robberies at gunpoint . . . ended in homicide . . . when the robbery victim resisted.” I relaxed immediately, did not resist and the incident ended with no harm to myself.
Thank you for this article; it helped keep my fear and anger in check. I realize that a whole different set of rules apply for women threatened with rape, but in this case my aggressive tendencies would have caused me great harm. Because Stein`s words went through my head, bullets did not.
