Robert S. Ruwitch, 78, retired vice president of Continental Bank, died Wednesday in Evanston Hospital. A native of Chicago and a resident of Northbrook, he graduated from the University of Michigan in 1935. He was a major in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Ruwitch was in charge of the bank`s general merchandising division when he retired in 1980. He was a former trustee of the Ravinia Festival Association, the Carson Pirie Scott Foundation, the Cancer Research Foundation and Highland Park Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Susan Elliott and Elizabeth; a son, Robert; a brother; a sister; and three granddaughters. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the May Chapel at Rosehill Cemetery, 5800 N. Ravenswood Ave.
