John J. ”Jack” Burkhard, 66, a former funeral director, died Saturday in the Veterans Administration West Side Medical Center. Mr. Burkhard, a North Side native and resident, attended De Paul University and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Shortly after graduation, he joined his family`s funeral home business. Mr. Burkhard also served in World War II. Mr. Burkhard is survived by his wife, Anne; a son, Daniel; and a brother. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in Burkhard Funeral Home, 2157 W. Irving Park Rd. Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Benedict`s Church, 2215 W. Irving Park Rd.
