The Chicago Board of Education on Thursday approved the suspension without pay and pending dismissal of Noel Rosado, the Subdistrict 3 superintendent accused of covering up his nephew`s alleged sexual molestation of seven girls.
Supt. Ted Kimbrough had recommended the dismissal after a monthlong investigation.
Rosado`s nephew, Jose Pineiro, a janitor at McAuliffe School, 1841 N. Springfield Ave., is charged with molesting girls between the ages of 8 and 15 at the school, which is in Rosado`s subdistrict.
Parents of some of the girls have claimed that Rosado knew of Pineiro`s actions and transferred him three weeks before Pineiro was charged.
Rosado must be notified of the board`s decision within five days and will have 10 days to appeal. The board voted unanimously to have a public hearing for Rosado if he appeals.
