It has been stated that the federal deficit has placed an unconscionable burden on generations yet unborn.
While the statement is true if the present generation does not solve our problems, it cannot be overlooked that the deficit has current repercussions. It has prevented the necessary infrastructure repairs, it has prevented urgent financial help to the large cities, it has allowed an excessive amount of tax dollars to go toward interest payment, and generally has had a depressing effect on the standard of living.
There may be a burden on future generations, but how about the present?
