The genteel custom of taking a break during the day for tea and a bite of nourishment is now available in an extended form seven days a week in the Fox Valley.
Patrons of Geneva`s Old Mill Market can break from shopping and browsing to relax with tea, coffee, capuccino or soft drink and a variety of edibles in the indoor Tea Party Cafe.
Set up with glass and rattan tables, silk flower arrangements, weighty silver utensils and surrounded by soft recorded music, the cozy cafe offers its customers a range of options for breakfast, brunch, lunch or snack.
”Our Tea Party customers have the opportunities to get what they want because we give them many choices,” said Jim Williams, who manages the cafe with his wife, Lucinda, the owner and operator of The Old Mill Market.
”People have their choices of types of coffees, teas, fresh breads and pastries, soups, salads, sandwich makings and, of course, desserts,” Williams said.
Originally set to serve just coffee, tea, scones and pastries, the couple decided to expand the menu to meet what they found to be the needs of the Geneva shopper.
Priding himself on establishing an ever-changing menu, Williams said that one of the most popular choices of late are his British Muffin open-faced sandwiches (made of a cranberry English muffin topped with turkey and cheese and served with a pasta salad and chips) and the Far More swedish chocolate cake, topped with either powdered sugar or (more popularly) chocolate icing.
Other choices include cookies, pies, cakes, Eli`s cheesecake, muffins, bagels, scones, as well as ham, chicken, tuna and turkey sandwiches served on homemade breads (or kaiser rolls) with or without homemade soup.
In addition, clients can top meals off with a bit of chocolate candy and sparkling water. All menu items are priced under $4, with most desserts under $2.
