On a recent visit to Chicago, I saw a sign that says no more than 3,887 people should be on the first floor of Union Station at a time. That seems about right to me, but what I wonder is who`s counting?

When I lived in Chicago back in the `50s, the answer would have been a Democratic precinct captain with a lively law practice. His vantage point would have been a golf course somewhere in Du Page County.
