Former heavyweight boxing champion Leon Spinks knocked out Jeff Jackson with a vicious right hand at 2 minutes 52 seconds of the third round at Engineers Local 150 Union Hall in Countryside Friday night to continue his climb on the comeback trail.

Spinks improved to 20-13-3 for his career, pounding Jackson throughout the final round, after the two spent the first two rounds wrestling about the ring to the sound of boos from the crowd of about 3,000.

The win was Spinks` sixth in a row since his comeback began. Jackson fell to 5-10.

The seven-fight card also featured a bout for the Illinois state lightweight title between Curtis Strong and Rodney Wilson. Wilson won a unanimous 10-round decision to improve to 16-1-2. Strong, who dominated the early rounds, slipped to 13-6-2.
