Lee Hamner, 77, a Chatham businessman, died Saturday in his Calumet City home. Mr. Hamner co-founded and operated the Shelter Lounge, 607 E. 87th St., for 26 years. He and his wife and business partner, Kelly, also opened a deli next door to the lounge. He was a Marine Corps gunnery sergeant during World War II and worked as a bartender on the South Side before opening his business in 1966. Survivors include a stepson, Theodore Evans; a stepdaughter, Shirley Kelly; a brother; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday with the service following at A.A. Rayner Funeral Home, 318 E. 71st St.
