In reference to ”A little guy standing up for the little guy,” by Ralph Keyes on July 8:

It was King Saul, not King Solomon, who ”from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people” (1 Samuel 9:2). Solomon was made king because his father, King David, promised him the throne (1 Kings 1:30) and God confirmed his selection because Solomon was wise enough to pray for wisdom in governing his people (1 Kings 3:11-14).

Oh, that our presidential candidates, regardless of stature, would be wise enough to do likewise.
