Regarding the July 14 letter from Benjamin S. Daniel: First, the Pledge of Allegiance of 1892 did not contain the phrase ”under God.” It was inserted in 1954. And second, because the God reference is only offensive to a minority does not make the objection invalid. I don`t think the Supreme Court would constitutionalize racial slurs on the basis that the majority is not affected.

Prayer belongs in a house of worship or at home, not, as the court rightly ruled, in school.
