In regard to your recent series on the changing face of Lake County and its ”boom development”:
I am just amazed that every 3 or 4 years the Tribune will run a series about how sprawl is destroying suburban areas and what`s left of rural areas; how the land and wildlife are being bulldozed and eliminated; how pollution and congestion are destroying the quality of life and future economic growth. And then week after week-year after year-on Saturday and Sunday the Real Estate sections are the biggest cheerleaders for the very developers who are responsible for the countrysides` destruction.
I`m afraid the weekend boosterism reporting is business as usual, with the occasional ”ecology” series merely a twinge of conscience. And I`m afraid that`s why Lake County`s future is blacktop and strip malls.
