Maritza Marrero, second in command at the City of Chicago`s Department of Personnel, is the newest president of the 25-member Latino Institute`s Board of Trustees, an organization that promotes advocacy, training and research on Hispanic issues. Marrero says one goal for this year is to launch a program in which ”people in the professional field, but not quite at the executive level, can develop the leadership skills necessary to move up.”
