I was momentarily concerned when I read the description of Al Gore`s excellent book as a ”ponderous, thumb-sucking, 407-page treatise on the environment” (About Washington, July 19). Then I noticed it was written by Michael Kilian, who surely must be right, because nobody writes ponderous, thumb-sucking treatises better than Kilian.
