When they finally fight in six weeks, Julio Cesar Chavez wants to prove that Hector Camacho is anything but the ”Macho Man.”
”The 12th of September, I`m going to shut the mouth of Macho Camacho because I consider him a very feminine man,” Chavez said through an interpreter after stopping Frankie Mitchell at 56 seconds of the fourth round Saturday night to defend his World Boxing Council super-lightweight title for the eighth time.
Chavez improved to 81-0, the longest winning streak from the start of a career in boxing history. His ninth defense will be at the Thomas and Mack Center against Camacho, who`s 41-1 with 18 knockouts.
”I hope Hector Camacho will not run away anymore,” said Chavez, who has 67 knockouts and was the 5-to-1 favorite as of Sunday.
Camacho, a former three-time world champion, opened the main card at the Las Vegas Hilton by stopping Eddie Van Kirk at 1:03 of the fourth round of a scheduled 10-round welterweight fight.
Camacho, a Puerto Rican who lives on the Osage Indian Reservation in Florida, mooned the Mexican fans who were booing him. Chavez is from Mexico.
”They all boo me because they know I`m the man,” Camacho said.
Chavez barely made the 140-pound limit. Camacho weighed 148, and will have to come down for the title fight.
