Bonds were set at $800,000 for a man and at $300,000 for his brother Tuesday on charges that they severely beat a Lake Forest businessman last March.

Cook County Circuit Judge Michael Jordan set the higher bond for Angelo Cassano, 32, of Northlake, in the beating of Joseph Urso, 38, in the parking lot of his auto parts company in Northbrook last March 10. Cassano had received a year`s probation last year for impersonating a police officer and a year`s supervision in 1985 for resisting arrest, said Assistant State`s Atty. Inez Bargioni.

A $300,000 bond was set for Cassano`s brother, Dominick, 43, of Palatine.

Bargioni said the victim was beaten and kicked until he lost consciousness. The victim identified his alleged assailants late in July, and the two men were arrested last Thursday, authorities said. The reason for the beating was unknown.
