Quite a stylish crowd turned up at the bistro Relish last week to celebrate the publication of ”The Dream Seekers,” a historical novel by Grace Mark. It made us proud to have once been an English major.
So proud that we gave four stars to the natty tie worn by Mark`s husband, Norman, entertainment reporter for WMAQ-TV Ch. 5.
For the author and several of her friends, the designer of choice was Nadya, a former Chicagoan who now lives in Bali. ”It`s almost a cult,” said Mary Stern of the exotic-looking ensembles.
Saks Fifth Avenue`s Nena Ivon stood out in her swingy trapeze dress-but she complained that we spotted her ”the only time I wasn`t wearing something from the store.”
Like a good reporter, we double-checked her professional title: Fashion director at Saks, right?
”Not after this appears,” she said with a laugh.
