Two trustees who live near the site of a proposed Midas Muffler Shop on Rand Road are revving up to persuade their fellow board members to throw the idea on the scrap heap.

Trustees Lawrence Coffey and Gary Winchester, who often square off as members of opposing factions, agree that their neighborhoods, which are near the proposed Midas site, 888 S. Rand Rd., in the Deerpath Court Shopping Center, would be harmed by noise and excessive traffic if the shop is built.

”Why do we need to have this in this particular spot when we have other locations in the village dedicated to automotive uses?” asked Coffey after Tuesday`s Village Board meeting.

The matter was sent back to committee but should come up again at the next board meeting.
