Julia Stipe Ostergaard, 92, a teacher in the Winnetka public school system for nearly 40 years, died Wednesday in Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Mrs. Ostergaard grew up on a farm in Highland Park and later used her experiences to help establish the Winnetka school district Pioneer Heritage Program. She attended Northern Illinois Teachers` College. From 1920 to 1959, she taught in Winnetka`s Mann, Greeley and Crow Island Elementary Schools and later taught at the demonstration school of the National College of Education, now National Louis University. In the summers over the years, she ran a demonstration lab for teachers at Appalachian State College in Boone, N.C. Survivors include her son, J. Kroy Ostergaard; a daughter, Lois Boyd; a brother; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held this month.
