I`m all for giving everyone their 1st Amendment rights to free speech, but the right carries with it the responsibility to be factual, not general, and to take some care with the speech.

If Reo Christenson thinks the elderly are more dangerous to society and more in control of a runaway debt than the military-industrial complex, the savings & loan mess, congressmen running amok floating bad checks and an economy that is in dire straights, surely he needs help.

While America generally does pander to the wealthy-at all age levels-it has nothing to do with the Social Security benefits which will not be available for future retirees. This is because the government took a surplus and instead of investing it, frittered it away with planes and bombs and other unnecessary items.

Does this man know how many elderly, sick, disabled people eat cat food every day in this country because they have no money to survive? Does he care how many ”early retirements” were really forced layoffs, or that so many pension plans have gone under with no insurance, or that, as a result, all that many people have to live on is Social Security?

Perhaps he needs to admit that Ohio has one of the best retirement systems in the country-and he will never need Social Security, because his plan was handled intelligently by the state. Everyone is not so fortunate.
