Kevin Gutzman`s sardonic letter (July 21) on Clinton and Gore`s ”anti-establishment” credentials prompts a look at Bush and Quayle`s
credentials.
Bush, born into a New England Brahmin family, Ivy League schools, was surprised to see an ordinary checkout line. Dan Quayle, born to the richest publishing family in Indiana, with favors from his influential father in gaining entry to schools and entering the National Guard to avoid the Vietnam draft, can`t spell ”potato.” These two are definitely ”establishment” and don`t want to change the status quo. Understandable!
The fact that Clinton, from a lower-income working class family, was able to gain a Rhodes Scholarship testifies to his ability and hard work. Yet he has lived the life wherein he knows the trials of ordinary people. We don`t have people like that in this administration.
