Residents of this Glen Ellyn home can exercise their right to privacy.
Nestled in a corner of Glen Crest subdivision, the home wraps around a wooded area on two sides, and a creek runs alongside its east side. The front of the home also emphasizes privacy, with a two-car garage facing the street, and the entry alongside the home on the creek side.
”It takes advantage of the woods from almost every window of the house,” said listing agent Bill Scanlan of Baird & Warner in Glen Ellyn. At the back of the home, located at 21W611 Glen Crest, the wooded area backs directly up to the expansive wood deck on the 153-by-136 irregular lot, and some tree branches even spill over the railings.
Currently empty, the 7-year-old house is decorated mostly in whites and beiges. It`s located on the south side of Glen Ellyn off Illinois Highway 53. ”Just north of here is an area of new construction,” Scanlan said,
”but this area is established, one street set aside for custom homes. They`re all very nice, expensive homes, all at $200,000 plus. This is a very well-priced home.” It is listed at $218,850.
Hardwood floor entry
The entry has a hardwood floor, and around the corner to the right is a carpeted walk-in hall closet. A half bath is across the hall, and through the bathroom is a first-floor utility room.
To the left of the entry is the 19-by-15 living room, where a fireplace is flanked by two narrow windows. The neutral carpeting is in good condition. The 12-by-13 kitchen has dark linoleum and Euro-style cabinetry, including a pantry, a counter appliance garage and a plan desk. The range and refrigerator are included in the home`s asking price.
Through the kitchen door, the 13-by-15 dining room has hardwood floors and attractive pine-green flowered draperies on the windows. ”It`s a very nice dining room, with French doors to the deck,” Scanlan noted.
Upstairs, the 19-by-14 master bedroom is two steps down, with two dormered windows creating offset areas. One offset has a window seat built in, but a heat register that`s atop it would prevent the use of window seat cushions. The carpeting is light brown.
Ceiling fan
The master bath and dressing area are back up at hall level, offering a shower area, a toilet area, and then a walk-in closet at the back. A ceiling fan hangs from the vaulted ceiling.
The 15-by-11 bedroom has a walk-in closet and a deep burgundy carpet that is in good condition.
The blue carpeting in the 13-by-10 bedroom, however, is heavily stained. This room has a double-door closet.
The carpeting on the staircase, in the long, winding upper hall and into the fourth bedroom is light brown, and in so-so condition. The fourth bedroom is 12-by-13 and has a walk-in closet.
The upper hall has a half-wall topped by a ledge overlooking the staircase. The hallway bathroom has a light toned tile floor with an ivory tub, and an ivory sink that is built into an antique-style dresser topped by an old-fashioned oval mirror.
The basement is partially finished; it has several separate room areas, some with tile floor and other carpeted.
The back and side yards include a wooden play set and sand box, and is heavily landscaped with bushes and flowers. Tucked into its quiet little corner, this home in unincorporated Glen Ellyn affords both privacy and accessibility to neighbors and schools.
