Visitors will find out which 80 percent of the family car is recyclable and how household trash affects landfills when they become ”garbologists”

for a day in the Chicago Children`s Museum newest exhibit.

”The Stinking Truth About Garbage” is designed to teach about recycling and programs that encourage responsibility toward the environment.

The hands-on ”garbology” exhibit includes a closeup look at the materials that make up paper, plastic and glass and shows how those can be recycled.

Along with the exhibit, there are workshops for teachers, children and adults on topics such as composting, solar cooking and making art from recycled materials.

The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Suite 370, the Chicago Children`s Museum, 435 E. Illinois St. It will run through January 1993.
