Teachers in Elgin-area Unit District 46 have set Aug. 25 as the date when they will meet to vote on ratification of their two-year contract, a union leader said Friday.
Scott Eshelman, president of the Elgin Teachers Association, said the 1,700 members will meet at 7 p.m. at Hemmens Auditorium.
The tentative agreement, which the union and district reached in late June, calls for raises of 5.5 percent each year.
School board President Robert D. Erickson said he will schedule a board meeting ”as soon after the ratification as possible. I would not think that we would wait until our next scheduled meeting” Sept. 8.
