What a distorted viewpoint we are given in Phoebe Cirio and John Tieman`s article on art and sex. The definition of art is: An aesthetically pleasing and meaningful arrangement of elements. The definition of aesthetic: Of or relating to the beauty in art.
I do not believe, nor do most others, that displaying body parts in a totally negative and ugly way, is aesthetically beautiful. Sex was created as part of a love bond between two people, not as a recreational toy where anything goes, so everything does!
Actually, it was an honest lack of self-worth that led Robert Mapplethorpe to his extremes. Yes, we all need sex, but not the kind he portrays.
