The Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved a plan by the Chicago Board of Trade to trade futures contracts based on the exchange`s
International Commodity Index, which represents the most liquid dollar-denominated futures contracts for physical commodities. The index was created by the CBOT this year to serve as a benchmark of physical commodity prices. The commodities in the index represent five general groups, heavily weighted in the energy sector.
