CURING CRAPULENCE: Hungover? First try toast with honey, which contains fructose, a sugar that helps the body burn off alcohol faster; then coffee with caffeine, which will constrict the blood vessels in your head and fend off a headache; and finally, a cup of broth to replace the salt, potassium and fluids your body loses when you booze up.
A recent issue of the Tufts University Diet and Nutrition Letter notes that fluid intake is especially important for older people because with aging, the thirst sensation becomes blunted. The mouth might not feel parched, but the body may require more water. Drink at least eight cups of water and other fluids every day.
A BOO FOR MOO JUICE: Don`t stop giving cow`s milk to your kids, even though a study in the New England Journal of Medicine says it may trigger juvenile diabetes in some children with a family history of the disease. Experts stress the case against milk is far from proven and that much more study is needed.
