The U.S. attorney`s office asked Wednesday that a hearing be held to determine the mental competency of Gary Steven Foster, accused of threatening to kill Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton.
Foster, 41, of the North Side is charged with making threats against Clinton and his daughter on Aug. 1.
He also faces state charges of battery for allegedly assaulting U.S. Senate candidate Carol Moseley Braun during the Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade in June.
