A ”no-nonsense,” $22 million budget for Crystal Lake`s High School District 155 received tentative approval Tuesday night by the Board of Education, which means the public can peruse the numbers for another month until the final vote is cast.
The proposed figure represents an increase of nearly 10 percent-or $2 million-over last year`s budget, according to assistant superintendent Joseph Saban.
”This is a no-nonsense budget. We`re not introducing any new programs or capital expenditures,” Saban said. ”We`re focusing on supplying the appropriate housing for kids we expect to have enrolled here over the next couple of years.”
Also reflected in the budget is a surplus of about $4.5 million in working cash for the district.
