Under the heading perhaps of ”one man`s trash is another man`s treasure,” a North Chicago man has been charged with emptying recycling bins full of aluminum cans into his van.

Austin Tajeda, 34, of 2507 24th St., was free on a $2,000 bond after being arrested and charged Tuesday with theft of recyclable items and driving without a driver`s license or insurance, said police investigations Lt. Brian Budy.

Witnesses told police they saw the suspect driving a white van in the 300 block of McKinley Avenue near Garfield Avenue early Tuesday. The van would stop along the curb and the suspect was seen getting out and emptying the bins into the van, Budy said.

Tajeda told police he planned to get money for the cans, Budy said.
