I was pleased to see the article by Laurie Goering about suburban attractions in the July 30 Tribune. I was, however, surprised and disappointed to find that several attractions in the suburbs, including the Chicago Botanic Garden, were not included.
During its 26-year history, the Chicago Botanic Garden has grown from just a few small collections to one of the country`s top botanical gardens. Our 300 acres offer a wide range of horticultural and conservation
collections, all designed for learning and enjoyment.
Our 1991 attendance of 540,000 signifies the importance of the Botanic Garden to our large community of users that includes visitors from throughout the world and from all walks of life.
We are proud and pleased to be an integral part of Chicagoland`s cultural community. I hope that as the state promotes tourism to the Chicago area it includes all suburban cultural institutions as part of the wonderful ”people resources” in our region.
