Thomas Block Rubnitz, 36, an artist and filmmaker, died Tuesday in New York. Mr. Rubnitz`s paintings are in a number of collections around the world and his videos have been exhibited in Japan, Italy, Germany and England. His video ”Made For TV” was featured in the public television series ”Alive From Off Center.” Rubnitz also collaborated on an advertisement for the American Foundation for AIDS Research project ”Summer of Love, Art Against AIDS.” He was born in Winnetka and graduated in 1974 from New Trier West High School in Northfield. Mr. Block graduated from the Art Institute in Kansas City in 1978. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Myron and Susan Rubnitz; two brothers; and a sister. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Temple Jeremiah, 937 Happ Rd., Northfield.
