Regarding a July 31 letter on the democratic process requiring two parties: His premise is an illusion. In the U.S., with its two-party system, only 50 percent of the people vote. Europe, with its multiparty system, has an 85 percent turnout at the polls. It is obvious which is the better democratic system.
