Timothy Daly is Joe Hackett and Steven Weber is brother Brian. Weber started out in commercials at 8, played ”Puddin` Head Wilson” for PBS and an accused murderer on the soap ”As the World Turns” and a computer hacker on
”The Guiding Light.” He`s appeared on ”Kojak” and ”Crime Story” and played John F. Kennedy in the mini-series ”The Kennedys of Massachusetts.”
He`s the son of the late James Daly, brother of Tyne Daly, started in summer stock, made his mark in the feature ”Diner.” He`s done two previous TV series, both short-lived, ”Ryan`s Four” and ”Almost Grown”; TV movie,
”Red Earth, White Earth” and the mini-series ”I`ll Take Manhattan.”
– My parents have a bet going on whether Melaine Chartoff, who was in
”Parker Lewis Can`t Lose,” was on ”Saturday Night Live.” Can you settle it? -E.T.
A. Chartoff was on ”Fridays” an ”SNL” ripoff seen on ABC 1980-82 and chiefly distinctive for the fact that, during its first months, much of its comedy was so offensive, many ABC stations dropped it or refused to carry it. Chartoff`s other TV credits include regular roles on the soap ”Search for Tomorrow” and ”Take Five,” which was canceled after two shows, and recurring roles on ”Newhart” and ”Wiseguy.”
– We need help to keep peace in the family. Give the parents of Meredith Baxter and of Meredith MacRae. Were they both on ”Petticoat Junction?” -C.L. Baxter is the daughter of actress Whitney Blake and agent Jack Fields. MacRae is the daughter of singer Gordon MacRae and actress Sheila MacRae. Only Meredith MacRae was on ”Petticoat Junction.”

Chiklis, 28, was born in Lowell, Mass. and studied drama at Boston University of Fine Arts but already was an acting pro after making his stage debut at 13. He made his first movie in 1989`s ”Wired,” did guest spots on TV in ”Wiseguy,” ”Miami Vice” and ”Murphy Brown.” He is married to actress Michelle Epstein.
