Village officials are considering widening and rebuilding three streets.
During a review of capital projects scheduled over the next five years, trustees directed the village engineering department to come back with cost estimates to make the roads two lanes in each direction and improve curbs, sewers and gutters.
The streets include Kennedy Boulevard, from Arlington Heights Road to Brantwood Avenue; Morrison Boulevard, from Brantwood to Elk Grove Boulevard;
and Elk Grove Boulevard, between Morrison and Tonne Road.
Officials said now may be an opportune time to repair the streets because a $5.5 million project to eliminate a flood-prone area will soon be done nearby.
”If you`re going to do one, it seems appropriate to do the other,”
Village President Charles Zettek said. ”The thing that kills municipalities and gets them in trouble is when they neglect their infrastructure.”
