Toward the future: Tribune Co. created a new position, vice president/
technology, and appointed James N. Longson, 46, the company`s director of corporate development, to fill it. Charles T. Brumback, Tribune Co. president and chief executive, announced Longson`s appointment and the creation of a technology advisory committee, chaired by Brumback, to be made up of senior Tribune executives and board members. ”Our interest isn`t in technology per se, but in applying it in new and interesting ways to serve our customers,”
Longson said. Tribune-owned companies already plan to provide cable television program services and on-line computer information services, he noted. Future ventures could include interactive television, he said.
