Despite objections from two trustees, the Village Board has approved zoning variances that will allow Lexington Homes to build houses on smaller lots in the Williams Glen subdivision.
Trustees Peggy Danhof and Donald Alcott were on the short end of a 4-2 vote last week.
Bolingbrook requires lot sizes of at least 8,750 square feet. The amendment to the special-use permit approved Tuesday will allow Lexington Homes to squeeze an additional 18 houses into the subdivision by building about 30 homes on lot sizes as small as 6,600 square feet. Average lot size for all homes in Unit 3 will be slightly larger than 8,750.
”A minimum lot size is just that, a minimum,” said Danhof. ”We`ve set our standards, and we should stick to them.”
The development is on the south side of Boughton Road about three-quarters of a mile east of Naperville Road.
