Now that the temperature has inched over 90 degrees, I hope everyone who`s been complaining about the summer is happy! I`m not!
To my mind, this is the best summer we`ve had in a long time-the first without the awful stifling that comes with 90-plus degree temperatures. It`s cool enough to ride bikes or play tennis without worrying about heat prostration. You can walk forever and not have to deal with sweat-drenched clothes or dehydration.
And the air is clean! Has everyone forgotten about pollution and ozone levels? The rain everyone decries has brought a bounty of beautiful clouds and freshness.
It has been a glorious summer! Windows are up and electricity bills are down. What more can you ask for in a recession? Lawns and trees are as green as can be.
I`ll remember the summer of `92 for a long time to come. The summer that gave us a break from summer.
