Here`s an apartment that golf aficionados will find hard to pass up.

The one-bedroom with den is a spacious 852 square feet. But what makes it even more attractive is its clear view of the green fairways of the Indian Lakes Resort golf course in Bloomingdale.

If you`re a shopper as well as a golfer, the Glen-Garry Club is just minutes from Stratford Square Shopping Mall.

This Trammel Crowe development of 230 units in 10 buildings seems a perfect slice of suburbia. It fits well in this developing area, which has lots of neatly manicured lawns, swingsets, flowerbeds and newly constructed single-family homes.

The buildings` exteriors are beige, stained wood and red brick. Upper-floor apartments have balconies made of stained, natural wood, while first-floor units feature patios.

The balcony of this second-floor apartment is separated from the living area by a regular door, not a sliding glass door. It allows more space for a sofa or sectional in the living room, and it`s not drafty in the winter.

Extra room

The apartment with den we looked at is a good match for anyone who`s outgrown a one-bedroom, but does not yet feel compelled to spread out into a two or three-bedroom. It rents for $759 a month. Other Glen-Garry rents range from $659 for a one-bedroom, one-bath to $920 for a two-bedroom, two-bath plus den.

When you enter this rectangular-shaped apartment you find yourself in a beige-carpeted living room, which has cream-colored walls and opens into a corner dining area. The beige/cream color scheme is carried throughout the apartment. Other options for carpet colors are gray and tan.

The dining ”room,” which is 8 by 8 1/2 feet, is easily big enough for a table seating four. It is right next to the 8-by-12-foot kitchen, which has Euro-style cabinets in cream with wood accents. There you`ll find a dishwasher and a walk-in closet, which has connections for a washer and dryer. Each building also has a laundry room.

Pull a couple of stools up to the counter that separates the kitchen from the living room and you have a bar for casual eating or entertaining.

The den is also situated off the living room. However, it has a door, which makes privacy or a bit of quiet possible for the renter.

The immediate use of the space that pops to mind is as a home office, but it could also serve as an infant`s or toddler`s room.

Walk-in closet

Walk down a short hallway and the bedroom is at the back of the apartment. It is about 12 by 11 1/2 feet in size and features a large walk-in closet.

The beige-tiled bathroom is an ample size. It has a large linen closet, a single-sink vanity, and a bathtub/shower. Besides a door connecting the bedroom and bath, there is another door leading into the hallway.

The Glen-Garry Club has several one- and two-bedroom apartments available, ranging in size from 630 to 1,160 square feet.

What makes this development so attractive is the obvious care that the developer took when laying it out.

There are plenty of attractive extras to make this a pleasant place to live, including an outdoor pool, a 3/4-mile-long jogging path winding through the development, a clubhouse with an exercise room, a sand volleyball court, a tennis court and several wooden gazebos that are simply for sitting and relaxing.

And, of course, there`s the golf course just minutes away. However, while you can see the course from the Glen-Garry Club, you do have to pay to play there.
