Jack ”Bud” Denten, 76, owner of Desplenter Bros. Carnival and Amusement Novelties in Chicago, died Friday in Lake Forest Hospital. Born in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, Mr. Denten graduated from Notre Dame University in 1938. He had been in the family business all his life, selling balloons and later managing the carnival novelty company. His grandfather, Emil Desplenter, is credited with being one of the inventors of the balloon. Survivors include his wife, Joan; a daughter, Donna; a brother; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Wenban Funeral Home, 320 E. Vine Ave., Lake Forest. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick Church, 991 S. Waukegan Rd., Lake Forest.
