Rev. Donald E. Waldo, 53, senior pastor of St. John`s (Mayfair)
Evangelical Lutheran Church on the Northwest Side, died Monday in Holy Family Hospital, Des Plaines. Rev. Waldo joined the church in April 1991 after several years at St. John`s Church in Bellwood. Born in Cleveland, he graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield and served congregations in Minnesota, Michigan and California before coming back to Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Sandi; four sons, David R. Buice, Daniel L. Buice, Todd and Mark; two daughters, Cheryl Maas and Paige; his mother, Esther; a brother; a sister; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. John`s (Mayfair) Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4939 W. Montrose Ave.
