In her column ”The real choice comes in November,” Ellen Goodman complains that ”Republicans should at least have the right to choose sides on the subject of choice (she means abortion)-without a party order.”
Ms. Goodman can just as well substitute the word ”Democrat” for
”Republican.” Did the Democratic platform make room, in its tent, for any pro-life constituency when the abortion resolution was ”signed, sealed and delivered” to the convention? Which political party effectually put a ”gag” on Gov. Casey of Pennsylvania for his pro-life views? Does the Democratic platform leave a small space for neutrality or for the ”right to choose”
life? Not on a bet.
