Apple slice?: Apple Computer Inc., whose low-price strategy has cut its profit margin, plans to lay off up to 1,000 people from its U.S. sales and marketing arm, according to published reports. The Cupertino, Calif.-based personal computer maker plans to lay off the employees by the end of the month.
