A relative of Mayor Bobby Thompson has been charged with aggravated assault for reportedly pointing a gun at a group of teenagers he thought had stolen the purse of a friend`s daughter, police said Friday.
Earl Thompson, 59, uncle of the mayor, was arrested late last week after a weeklong investigation into a complaint by two teenagers, Police Chief Ernest Fisher said.
