Opposition to the proposed closing of heavily traveled 55th Street through the McCook-Countryside area got a boost Tuesday from the executive committee of the West Central Municipal Conference.
A resolution calling for the conference`s opposition to a proposal by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District to close the four-lane street was unanimously recommended for approval by the committee.
