The Sept. 28 editorial ”For responsible school funding” was very irresponsible. It outlines all the reasons to vote ”yes” to the proposed school amendment, yet recommends a ”no” vote.
Voting ”no” would be sending the state legislature a message that we don`t care about education or that we don`t care if they come up with new and creative ways of financing schools. We`ve got to get away from reliance on property taxes alone.
Voting against the amendment is saying that we are satisfied with how the legislature is handling things. It`s naive to think they`ll do the things you say they should unless we give them some message. I say vote ”yes” to the amendment. It`s a step in the right direction.
